Problems in Traveling via China

Additional Permits Required to Travel to Kailash Mansarovar

Alien’s Travel Permit

The Alien’s Travel Permit is for visiting restricted areas in Tibet; examples include Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. The Public Security Bureau issues this in Tibet, which is necessary for foreign travellers who decide to enter areas outside Lhasa. 

This permit is obtained upon arrival in Tibet, usually through a travel agency that prepares the document. It necessitates the original passport and the Tibet Travel Permit. Military Permit and Foreign Affairs Permit
