The Mardi Himal trek is a relatively new and hence, a less explored trekking route in Nepal. Away from the busier and more crowded trekking routes, the trek is an ideal getaway for those interested in trekking and also as well for the beginners as prior experience isn’t needed. The trail is small and winding, passing through villages, beautiful and dense rhododendron forests, narrow valleys up to High Mountain landscapes with homestays and tea houses along the entire route. The trek offers visitors a chance to experience the culture and traditions of the local communities, to feast their eyes upon the incredible sceneries, endless diversity of flora and fauna of the region, and views of mountains such as Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna south and Hiuchuli. Trek Permits for the Annapurna Circuit Trek:

1. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

This permit is required for all trekkers wishing to trek in the Annapurna region. It costs NPR 3,000 for non-SAARC countries and NPR 1,000 for SAARC countries

2. Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card

This card permit is required for all trekkers and costs NPR 1,000 for SAARC countries and NPR 2,000 for non-SAARC countries.

Both the ACAP and TIMS cards can be obtained in either Kathmandu or Pokhara. The following are the places where trekkers can purchase these permits:
The Tourist Service Center in Kathmandu
The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation in Kathmandu
The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) office in Pokhara
The Nepal Tourism Board office in Besisahar or Pokhara

It is important to note that solo trekking for foreigners is banned in the Annapurna region, effective April 1, 2023.
